Times are tough for a lot of folk right now and an event like Unwind can provide a boost to someone who really needs a lift.
I have some folk who I would love to be able to assist in attending Unwind. I wonder if you can help?
Who receives help?
I will not be making any names public. This process is anonymous, I am the only person who knows who gives and who receives. You do ultimately have to trust my decision-making. I can tell you what I consider around providing assistance:
- Income limitations.
- The impact of having a weekend of respite from “regular” life.
Perhaps a knitter lives on government assistance due to illness or injury. Perhaps they work but are the only income source for their family and there just isn’t anything spare to go around. Perhaps they are someone who cares for others in their whanau due to illness and a weekend of time focused on their own interests would provide a significant mental-health boost (but it’s out of budget for them).
How much assistance is provided to an individual also varies. Some will need full assistance, others part. Everything is on a case-by-case basis.
